SOLFAGER & ORMEKONGEN

Tjodun Felland - storyteller Anne Gravir Klykken - singer Magnus Wiik - jaws harp, hardanger fiddle, guitar, mandolin, cello, fiddle

Solfager og Ormekongen is a performance highlighting the rich storytelling and folk music traditions from Norway. Using the medieval ballad with the same name as a framework for the performance, the performance tells the story in a way that it can be understood today while keeping true to the traditional elements of how it was sung and told hundreds of years ago.

The performance was created by the trio and produced with the help of Katinka Brodin and Ingrid Grøstad Johnson. It saw the light in early 2021, and has since been performed for schools throughout Telemark as well as in Trøndelag. The performance is in Norwegian, and the vision behind the performance is to give a good introduction to Norwegian folk culture and music to kids aged 8-12. The music spans from traditional Norwegian folk music from Telemark and Setesdal to atmospheric soundscapes.
