MAGNUS WIIK
«One of the most promising bluegrass acts from across the pond» - Blueberry Bluegrass Festival
After having gained recognition from a host of bands on the alternative European americana-scene, Magnus Wiik started working as a solo artist in 2020, releasing the sister albums Rad and Trad to critical acclaim. The albums evoke the journey his concerts are set on, blending original material with traditional material rooted in what could be described as a modern take on the classic «a man and his guitar»-format, adding banjo, fiddle, mandolin and various wildcards into the mix.
«What really struck me about this album upon my first listen was the fact that Wiik plays all the instruments to a very impressive level.» - Tabitha Benedict, Bluegrass Today
2023 saw the release of his fourth solo album Misfits, touring in Norway, Denmark and Canada, performing clubs and festivals such as The Bailey Theatre, Blueberry Bluegrass Festival and Copenhagen World Music Festival. The spring of 2025 sees the release of his fifth album, Am I Doing This Right, as well as a children’s album on the Norwegian emigration dubbed The Search For America.
